SUMMER READING AT THE LIBRARY

All Ages Events

All Summer:

  • Story Walk at the Youth Commission Field – Stop by the youth commission field to walk through a storybook!

July

  • 16th (Thurs)- 1:00 – Create a Leaf Imprint Tote Bag – Using leaves you can find in your garden, we will create the perfect tote bag for your library books with simple tools like a hammer and a block of wood. Registration Requested. (All Ages)
  • 21st (Tues)- 1:00 – Silent Wings Raptor Program – Featuring live birds of prey! Educators from the Silent Wings Raptor Rehab will teach us about the connections between our modern raptors and dinosaurs! (All Ages – Limited to 40 attendees)
  • 28th (Tues)- 10:00 – Stuffy Adoption Event – Come visit with a variety of adoptable stuffed critters and enjoy a special story time about pets. Choose a friend to bring home as your very own! Adoption fees (donations of cash or pet food) will be collected for local animal rescues. (All Ages)

August

  • 5th : 11:00 (Wed)- Prehistoric Geode Smash! – Join us for a rocking good time where we will smash geodes, dig up treasure, and learn to identify a collection of fossils and stones. (All Ages) 
  • 13th : 1:00 (Thurs)- Jungle Bookmarks! – Use plants and leaves from local gardens to create beautiful bookmarks. Some dinosaurs may be lurking in the foliage if you look very closely! (All Ages)
  • 22nd : 10:00 (Sat)- Dungeons & Dinos – Join us to explore a magical world! This game will be a beginner-friendly, 2-hour adventure. No experience, books, or dice required, we have everything you need! Registration is required for this event. (ages 10+)

  • Wed July 15 at 10:00 – Introduction to LIBBY : Learn how to check out e-books and audio books on your phone or tablet using your library card
  • 2Wed July 22 at 10:00 –Phone Apps Q&A: We will answer your questions about using popular cell phone apps for convenience and to save money.
  • Wed July 29 at 10:00 – Internet Q&A : We will answer questions about safe internet usage, security and websites you need to know about.

Coffee Chat August!

  • Wed August 12 at 10:00 – Book Recommendation Round table : Share your favorite summer read or other book recommendations with neighbors and friends.
  • Wed August 19 at 10:00 – Garden Chat : How does your garden grow? Share tips and tricks (and maybe fresh produce) with neighbors and friends.
  • Wed August 26 at 10:00 – Recipe Exchange and Tasting : Share your favorite recipes for summer (or any season) with neighbors and friends. Bring a sample to share!
