How To Do A Keyword Search<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"Keyword1\"<\/a><\/p>\n

1.<\/strong>\u00a0 Click the Library Catalog<\/strong> link in the main menu.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0<\/strong> Click Keyword<\/b><\/span> on the Search<\/b><\/span> menu.<\/p>\n

3.<\/b><\/span> Type the text to search for in the Keyword search for<\/b><\/span> box. See Typing Search Text – Keyword Searches<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

You may see suggested search terms as you type. You can ignore the suggestions and continue to type your search term, or click a suggestion to search for the suggested term. Click Hide Suggestions<\/b><\/span> if you do not want to see search suggestions. Click the small arrow in the search text box to show the suggestions after they have been hidden.<\/p>\n

4.<\/b><\/span> Click the Search by<\/b><\/span> arrow symbol, and select a search field from the list:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Any Field<\/b><\/span> – All the indexed information fields<\/p>\n

\u2022 Title<\/b><\/span> – Title fields<\/p>\n

\u2022 Author<\/b><\/span> – Author fields<\/p>\n

\u2022 Subject<\/b><\/span> – Subject fields<\/p>\n

\u2022 General notes<\/b><\/span> – Notes fields<\/p>\n

\u2022 Publisher<\/b><\/span> – Publisher field<\/p>\n

\u2022 Genre<\/b><\/span> – Forms or types of materials, such as science fiction, romance, biography, bibliography, or large type books<\/p>\n

5.<\/b><\/span> To limit your search, click the arrow symbol in the Limit by<\/b><\/span> box, and select an option from the list. Example: If you want to find only DVDs, select DVD<\/b><\/span> in the Limit by<\/b><\/span> list.<\/p>\n

6.<\/b><\/span> If you want to set\u00a0additional limits, follow these steps:<\/p>\n

a)<\/b><\/span> Click More Search Options<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n

b)<\/b><\/span> Select the settings you want. To select several consecutive items in a list, hold down the SHIFT<\/b><\/span> key as you select the items. To select several items that are not listed together, hold down the CTRL<\/b><\/span> key as you select the items.<\/p>\n

You can also exclude items from a search. Select them from the appropriate list, and click the Exclude<\/b><\/span> box below the list.<\/p>\n

Important:
\n<\/b><\/span>Search options retain their settings until you reset them or go to the home page. The highlighted message Options have been set<\/b><\/span> on the search bar indicates that search options are set to values different from the usual values.<\/p>\n

7.<\/b><\/span> To search a database other than the library\u2019s catalog, or select multiple databases to search:<\/p>\n

a)<\/b><\/span> Click Select Databases<\/b><\/span> and check the databases you want to search.<\/p>\n

b)<\/b><\/span> Click Set Selected Databases<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n

c)<\/b><\/span> Click Close<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Your selections remain until you reset them. To reset the search databases, click Select Databases<\/b><\/span> again. Then click Reset<\/b><\/span> and Close<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n

8.<\/b><\/span> Click Go<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n

\u2022 If the search is successful, you see your search results.<\/p>\n

\u2022 If no matches are found, you see a message. You may also see a Did you mean<\/b><\/span> suggestion. You can click the suggestion to search for the suggested term.<\/p>\n

9.<\/b><\/span> To see more information about a title in your search results list, click the title or cover image.<\/p>\n

10.<\/b><\/span> To filter your search results or do related searches, click a Narrow<\/b><\/span> or Related<\/b><\/span> option at the side of the page.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
